Hey guys, I was recently asked by a website to answer a questionnaire regarding my journey on veganism. Thought I'd share with you my answers as you may find it of interest. I kept the answers short and sweet.
Q:Tell us a little about yourself. Where you live, what you do for a living. Please feel to share and promote anything you want here, business, social or websites.
A:My name is Perry Haldenby and I am 39 years old. I currently live in London Uk. I am a vegan nutrition coach and help people transition to vegan diet. My website is www.theplanjuicecoach.com and my instagram site is the_plan_juicecoach
Q:What was the moment you realize that you wanted to go vegan?
A:When I was 30 I completed a 7 day water fast because people kept on telling me I looked hungover for I had very dark circles under and around my eyes. I noticed it myself and wanted to clear my eyes up. I had also put on a bit of weight. After the 7 days fast, for some reason I felt like I didn't want to eat meat anymore. This was a shock for me as I never intended to become vegetarian. Soon after I learnt about veganism and went to live and study for a total of 6 months at the Tree Of Life rejuvenation centre in Arizona founded by Dr Gabriel Cousens.
Q:How long have you been Vegan?
Q:Why is being Vegan important to you?
A:Being vegan is important to me because I see it as the most loving way for ourselves, animals and the planet. Being vegan for me considers all of God's creations and it is in harmony with all of God's loving laws, therefore can only bring loving results.

Q:Do you have a favourite movie or videos or your own media that you want to share?
A:Favourite documentaries are : Earthlings and Cowspiracy.
Q:Do you actively promote veganism? How? Please share any stories you would like.
A:I do actively promote veganism. I am a vegan nutritional coach and also help people transition to a vegan diet. My website is www.theplanjuicecoach.com On there is my blog and other related educational videos.
Q:What is your favourite Vegan meme?
A:I don't have one
Q:What is the vegan stereotype you hear the most and how do you respond to it?
A:That its not possible to survive or be healthy without meat ! I reply that I am 9 years living (vegan) proof and I know people who are in their 60’s and 70’s who are vegan, so the proof is in the pudding.
Q:What’s your favourite Vegan restaurant?
A:I have so many in London : Wild food cafe, Mildreds and Black Cat
Q:Please share your favourite vegan recipe?
A:Spaghetti bolognese :
Bolognese sauce - 2 tins of lentils, 1 onion, 3 cloves of garlic (or more if you prefer) 1 zucchini, 2 cups of mushrooms, 2 tin of plum tomatoes, 1 Tble of tomato puree, 15 black olives, 3 vegan sausages ( I like the brand Linda Mcartney) - Mixed Italian herbs ( fresh or dried) - 2 bay leaves
Boil a Handful of Spaghetti -
Toppings - Nutritional yeast
First Cook the vegan sausages. Then whilst sausages are cooking, saute the onion and garlic until brown. Add the zucchini and mushrooms and saute also until brown. Then add the lentils and cook for 5 mins on a medium heat. Then add all the tomatoes and olives mix with herbs and simmer for 15 / 20 minutes until the mix starts to become thick. Chop the cook sausages into small pieces and add to the bolognese and simmer for 5 minutes.
Q:Some encouraging words for new Vegans? Compassion for yourself in the transition to being vegan.
A:Becoming vegan has brought me so much joy and awareness that I would have never thought possible before. It’s worth it - stick to it !

Q:What is the toughest Vegan item to find that you need? Croissants
Q:Talk about a time when you struggled with your Veganism?
A:My biggest struggle initially was cheese on pizza. I really loved pizza. Also pastries were pretty hard to give up, for a while I pretend that no dairy was used in making pastries so I didn't have to deal with the emotional reasons why I felt ‘I had a right to pastries’ . I finally saw my excuses and decided to give pastries up. (but now I've found a vegan brand)
What is one question you would ask other Vegans? Please answer it.
Q:What kind of vegan food diet do you mostly follow ?
A:I started out by mostly eating green plant food, salads and avocados ect, and I avoided pretty much all fruit. Later I came across the 80/10/10 diet and found that I loved fruit and so became predominantly fruit based and increased my carbohydrates. These days I’m trying the intermittent fasting. So I eat only between 12pm and 8pm. In those hours I will have smoothies for lunch, and then a green juice of sorts and big salad in the evening with maybe some granola bars for snacks or bits of fruit throughout the day . I also drink 4 litres of water a day.
